My Service Canada Account: How To Access It For The CDCP

A cover showing someone creating a My Service Canada Account.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is now accessible through a My Service Canada Account (MSCA). This change was implemented in 2025 to make it easier for CDCP members or applicants to review their plan.

Most people don’t know what a My Service Canada Account is and how to access it for the CDCP. That’s mainly because the dental plan has recently been added to the MSCA services.

Let’s break down what the My Service Canada Account is and how it affects the Canadian Dental Care Plan.

What Is My Service Canada Account (MSCA)?

The My Service Canada Account is a legal online platform that allows you to access government benefits in Canada. You can use it to avail various services or check information such as your Canadian Dental Care Plan details.

Its main purpose is to make accessing information and government services a breeze for Canadians. Instead of logging in to find different online links, you can log in to your MSCA Canada and get redirected to whichever service you want to access.

What Is The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a government dental care benefit.  Most residents, including seniors and young adults, can now use the CDCP to receive essential dental treatments at an affordable cost.

One of the services you can access under the MSCA Canada is the CDCP information. You can open your My Service Canada Account and click on the Canadian Dental Care Plan in the service section. This will redirect you to your CDCP account.

What Services Come Under My Service Canada Account?

Canadians can enjoy various services under their My Service Canada Account, such as:

  • Canadian Dental Care Plan

  • Employment Insurance

  • Canada Pension Plan

  • Old Age Security

  • Social Insurance Number

  • Canada Apprentice Loan Account

Most of the services were available from the launch of the MSCA. Only the Canadian Dental Care Plan has been added to the services under the MSCA in 2025.

Canadian Dental Care Plan In MSCA: Services You Can Access

You can use your My Service Canada Account to access the CDCP in three ways:

1. CDCP Application

When you open your MSCA Canada portal, the dashboard will contain a CDCP section. The section will offer you various prompts to choose from. If you want to fill out your Canadian Dental Care Plan application, click on the “Apply to CDCP” button.  You’ll be immediately redirected to the CDCP application page.

2. CDCP Renewal

If you’re already enrolled in the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you can use the MSCA to renew your plan. Remember, the coverage period for current CDCP members is ending on 30th June 2025.

To renew your plan, click the “Renew CDCP” button on the MSCA dashboard. The portal will redirect you to a page where you can confirm or update your details for renewal.

3. CDCP Letters

The service Canada and the CDCP moderators send various letters to Canadians. For example, currently, the Canadian Dental Care Plan is expanding its coverage to new age groups.

People who are eligible for the CDCP in these age groups are being sent invitation letters. The government also sends letters to current members of the CDCP regarding their coverage period and renewal. All these letters are accessible through the MSCA Canada portal.

How Do I Register For My Service Canada Account?

My Service Canada Account registration is a simple process if you know the right steps. Let’s look at how do I register for My Service Canada Account:

1. Ensure You Meet The My Service Canada Account Eligibility Criteria

The Canadian government has set eligibility criteria for MSCA registration. It says that:

  • You must be 12 years old or older for My Service Canada Account registration

  • The MSCA account must be used and accessed by you only

If you fulfill these My Service Canada Account eligibility criteria, you can proceed to the next steps.

2. Open The Canadian Government Website

To start your MSCA Canada process, you must visit the government website. Look up My Service Canada Account registration to reach the create account page.

3. Choose A Sign In Method For MSCA Canada

You will be asked a few questions before the actual form is presented to you. The first field you must complete is related to the sign-in method you wish to use for always accessing the account.

If you choose the Sign-In Partner method, you can access the MSCA with your online banking information. The GCKey is for people who have been issued a government ID and password.

People who don’t have a GCKey can sign up through another link, but there will be a waiting time. The final method of Provincial Sign-In is mainly for residents of Alberta and British Columbia.

4. Gather Accurate Information And Complete Relevant Fields

After choosing your sign-in option, you must fill out the fields relevant to your accessing method. This means you must have some or all of the following details on hand:

  • Banking institution name

  • Social insurance number (if you don’t have this, you can use your birth registration or unique client identifier numbers)

  • Personal access code

  • GCKey username and password

A personal access code is common to all three sign-in methods. If you don’t have this number, you can sign up for it through the government website. Until you receive the code, you cannot register for My Service Canada Account.

5. Start Filling Out The Actual My Service Canada Account Registration Form

Once you complete the initial fields, the website will redirect you to the main My Service Canada Account registration form. You’ll have to input accurate information, such as your personal access code. Always recheck all the details after filling out the complete form.

6. Submit The Form And Wait For Approval

After checking the form, submit it so that the Canadian authorities can review your details. If all things check out, your application to open a MSCA will be approved.

How Do I Use MSCA Canada To Access The CDCP?

Accessing the CDCP through the MSCA Canada is a breeze. You have to complete a My Service Canada Account login. Once you’re signed in, go to the portal’s dashboard.

Among the list, you’ll come across the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Press on the plan and choose the option you want to avail such as:

  • Apply to the CDCP

  • Renew your CDCP

  • View your CDCP letters

Clicking on the specific option will redirect you to your Canadian Dental Care Plan account.
